Salary slips and salary credits: reconcile a three-month income picture

Payslips show payroll components, while bank statements show amounts and dates actually credited. Comparing them helps explain deductions, variable pay and partial months before a lender asks about a mismatch.

Create a month-by-month bridge

For each requested month, record gross pay, deductions, net pay and the bank credit. Separate reimbursements, bonuses and arrears from normal salary. Ask the lender what period it needs; three months is an example worksheet, not a universal requirement. Keep the original records and explain differences rather than changing numbers to make them appear equal. Future expected pay should not be recorded as already received.

A worked situation

A bank credit larger than the normal net salary may include reimbursement or an arrears payment. A smaller joining-month credit may reflect only part of a month. Both can be understandable when the payroll and bank timeline are presented clearly.

Your next-step checklist

  • Match payslip month to credit date
  • Separate exceptional payroll components
  • Use the exact lender-requested document period

Is gross salary the amount I should budget for EMI?

For personal cash-flow planning, distinguish gross pay from dependable take-home funds. Supply the income definition the application requests accurately while keeping your own budget tied to money available.
