Your loan-enquiry reference: what it proves and how to follow up

An enquiry reference helps a service locate a submitted request. It is useful for follow-up, but it should not be confused with loan approval, a lender sanction or a completed credit check.

Track the actual stage

Keep the reference, submission date, organisation and the contact details used. When following up, ask what stage the request has reached and what information is needed next. Do not send complete PAN, bank records or passwords in a public status query. If another organisation later processes an application, record its separate reference and consent instead of assuming the first number identifies every later stage.

A worked situation

Credswitch's current thank-you screen confirms that an enquiry was saved for review. A reference shown there is not a bank approval. If a team member later discusses a lender assessment, ask about the proposed process, recipient and permissions before proceeding.

Your next-step checklist

  • Save the reference and submission date
  • Ask for the current stage explicitly
  • Track separate lender applications separately

Does a thank-you page mean money will be disbursed?

No. Enquiry receipt, assessment, sanction and disbursal are different outcomes. Rely on clear confirmation from the responsible lender for any actual credit decision or funding arrangement.
