Balance transfer without moving your salary account: clarify the conditions
A loan transfer and a salary-account change are separate decisions. Before opening or moving accounts, ask which arrangement is actually required for the proposed loan and how repayments will be collected.

Distinguish eligibility from payment setup
Ask whether the offer requires a salary relationship, a repayment account or merely an authorised debit mandate. Check account charges, minimum-balance conditions and what happens if salary credits later stop. A relationship-based quotation can change when the underlying arrangement changes. Do not redirect salary based only on an intermediary's promise or an unfinished loan application.
A worked situation
A borrower may prefer to keep salary credits at the current bank while repaying a new loan through an approved mandate. Whether that is available depends on the lender and offer. Compare the total practical cost, including any new account obligations, before making the payroll request.
Your next-step checklist
- Ask which account requirement is mandatory
- Confirm the debit account and collection dates
- Check account costs separately from loan costs
Can every transfer use my existing account?
Do not assume that. Obtain the receiving lender's current repayment and relationship requirements in writing before changing payroll or closing an existing banking arrangement.
