Loan sanctioned versus amount credited: reconcile the difference
The amount sanctioned, the opening principal and the money credited to your bank account can differ. Reconcile those figures before spending the disbursal so you understand both the cash available and the repayment obligation.

Use a disbursal reconciliation
Ask for the sanction amount, every deduction, any payment sent directly to an existing lender and the net amount credited to you. Distinguish optional products from mandatory costs and ask for clarification when a deduction is unfamiliar. Retain the schedule showing what principal you will repay. A transfer or top-up can involve several destinations, so the bank credit alone is not the complete transaction record.
A worked situation
An illustrative ₹5 lakh sanction could allocate ₹3 lakh to close an old loan, deduct ₹8,000 in stated charges and credit ₹1.92 lakh to the borrower. The ₹1.92 lakh is usable cash, while the new schedule may still begin at ₹5 lakh. Reconcile all three destinations.
Your next-step checklist
- Match every deduction to a written explanation
- Identify payments made directly to another lender
- Confirm the opening principal on the new statement
Should I spend before reconciling the credit?
First confirm the final amounts and repayment terms. A difference you cannot explain may affect the planned purchase or the amount needed for another loan closure.
